Shear Wall Locations

If shear wall locations do not span more than 8′-0″, follow instructions from the first section of Doors and Windows.

To install Star Speed Scaffold B1000 over shear wall locations, cut or drill a 4″ hole to allow easy access for the bottom bracket to sit on the bottom plate.

WARNING! Do not cut to the edge of the shear panel or structural integrity will be compromised! In the even this inadvertently happens, notify a supervisor immediately so a replacement panel or engineer field repair can be obtained.

Mark for drilling locations at 55 3/8″ above the top of the bottom plate.

A helper will place a Star Speed Scaffold into place from outside. The inside wall brace and wing nut can be removed temporarily for this process. The person inside will secure the inside wall brace and wing nut and nail all members inside and out as part of the standard installation.

If a tall or balloon wall condition exists, an interior scaffold may be required. Be sure to check local code or statutes to ensure accordance and safety. In the case of a high wall condition set or build platform scaffolding to OSHA specs at the interior to local or state codes. The Star Speed Scaffold TP1000 is recommended for these locations.
